It is interesting that this was back in 2014, and so much has changed since then. For starters, this is no longer the most expensive digital art ever sold. Michael Green created a GIF of Jeff Koons most expensive piece sold, just that his GIF is a metaphor to art and value. The GIF is Koons' balloon deflating, which might represent a deflating market where prices on art are absurd. As more artists look for ways to be different and to find the new meta for art, art will always be changing and evolving into new things that more people think are absurd. Today, NFT's make it easier for creators to monetize their content, and while it's a fun new way to share and sell art, there are still some questions about its legitimacy.
